About Us

Ailsa Craig United Church (ACUC) is located on Ailsa Craig Main Street which is central to North Middlesex. With a growing village population our membership is a mix of both town and country. As the last active church in the beautiful village of Ailsa Craig, we are dedicated to providing Spiritual care to our church, village, and surrounding area. ACUC participates in community events including Gala Days, Santa Claus Parade, The Car Show, Remembrance Day, and Ailsa Craig Village Association events. We support our local service groups and the Ailsa Craig Foodbank.

History

Ailsa Craig United Church originated from a little Methodist Church on George Street built in 1866. After joining the church union in 1925, it was decided that a new church building was required. Three lots were purchased on Main Street for $1100.00 and the new building included materials from the old church including a stone inscription WMS 1866 a way to preserve the continuity of the congregation.

The last service in the old building was June 17,1928 and the congregation worshipped in the Town Hall during the building of the new church. The laying of the cornerstone occurred on August 15, 1928 and the first service in the new church was March 2, 1929.
